After cancer, I do all that I can to stay as healthy as possible. What I put on my skin, what I eat, how I reset, all matter to me. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is something I did a long time ago, lately I am ready to start adding it back into my self care routine.
The concept is simple: you lie in a pressurized chamber breathing 100% pure oxygen. The pressure drives that oxygen deeper into your blood and tissues than normal breathing ever could. Your body gets flooded with it.
People use it for all kinds of things. Post-surgery recovery, radiation damage, long COVID, inflammation, athletic recovery, wound healing. The list is long.
But here’s why it matters to me specifically: cancer cells thrive in low-oxygen environments. Oxygen deprivation in your tissues is one of the conditions that lets them grow and hide. HBOT changes that. It makes your body a less hospitable place for cancer to take hold. Recent research backs this up -studies show it lowers the proteins that help tumors grow new blood vessels, and a 2024 meta-analysis found it actually prolonged survival in cancer models.
Below are some hyperbaric chamber locations in LA worth checking out.

I’m on the East Coast. I tried out one here a couple times, but I couldn’t get over the popping of the ears.
a great tool!
